The Art Of Staying Motivated
Staying motivated is not always an easy thing. This month has been a little difficult for me. My Grandmother passed away and she was an important person in my life. I admit that I lost motivation this passed month. In this blog post I will give you 3 tips on how to stay motivated in life and business.
1. Persevere
Recognize that disappointments and failures will come. These things are not inevitable. During these times we have to stay focused and strong. Make sure you are keeping your mind safe and staying positive. A permanent safe place will of course be as individual as you are so while some folks may suggest finding a small space with no people, you may prefer an open-windowed conference room with a trusted coworker, or an empty office, or to retreat to your car to call a friend, spouse, or therapist. A coffee shop around the corner can offer a much-needed reprieve, or maybe a bookstore. The key thing is identifying what your safe space looks like in advance, and know you can access that space when you feel a stress coming on. Perseverance is so, so important.
2. Create Your Mood
Know what time of day you feel the best normally. Set your mood in the morning, that way the rest of your day will be nice. I always start my day with gratitude. Gratitude has always helped me keep a positive attitude through out the day. Always think happy thoughts and sometimes you may have to even talk to yourself to keep yourself from getting in a negative mood. Also make sure you have an accountability partner to keep you accountable, as well. This is a HUGE help!
3. Work with your strengths
Understanding and actively practicing your best character strengths improves your overall well-being and happiness. Capitalizing on your unique character strengths can also energize you and lead to a more fulfilling career, life, marriage, etc. I know that one of my top character strengths is perspective and reliability, finding ways of making sense of the world and sharing wise counsel with others. So how can I use that in my creative work? Perhaps by gathering the information I know about creativity, business, inspiration and motivation and sharing that with other individuals like myself.
