How to Find Your Target Audience in 2 steps

Are you frustrated because you are not making consistent sales with your products or services?  There could be a few reasons why you are not making consistent sales, but one main reason for most people is that they have not found the right people that are interested in their products or service.  One thing that has helped me in my business was to define my target audience.  Define the people that would be interested in your product.  I have seen people with many followers, but not making sales because there followers are not targeted.  It's way better to have 500 targeted followers than 30,000 followers that are not interested in your products.  Quality over Quantity always wins.  There is nothing worse in business than providing people information and marketing to the masses only to end in no one being at all interested in your products or services.  This can leave you feeling like you are wasting your time and ultimately bring you feelings of discouragement. 

1st step that has helped me with defining my target audience. 

1.  Find 1 to 3 of  your competitors.  For example, If you are selling weight loss products.  Check out another company that sells weight loss products or find a top performer in your company( or another weight loss company).

2nd step that has helped me with defining my target audience

2.  Once you find  competitors pay close attention to their followers.  In no way am I telling you to try and "steal" their followers but pay attention to the things that they like.  Most of these followers are not going to be solely interested in healthy eating or weight loss.  They will be interested in other things. You need to know their basic demographics, 10 to 20 year age range, geographical location/ where they live, marital/relationship status, household income level. You also want to find out what TV shows they like, what clothing stores they go to, what grocery stores they like to shop in, what groups are they in, where do they hang out, etc. This may take a little time but it is so worth it.  With this data you will be able to find your "model customer" for your business.  Your model customer is going to be the customer that you target, develop a relationship with, provide value to etc.
